The Rules Of Gun Fighting.
The absolute First Rule of a Gunfight, in Mark Moritz’ brilliantly enunciated aphorism, is “HAVE A GUN”. The rest of the rules will supplement the first rule.
1. Have A Gun. Preferably have two guns. Both loaded. Bring all your friends who have guns.
2. If you can choose what to bring to a gunfight, bring a rifle.....And a friend with a rifle.
3. Have a plan. Also have a back up plan, and a “Plan B”, because the first one won’t work.
4. Anything worth shootin’ is worth shootin’ twice. Ammo is cheap. Life is expensive.
5. Only hits count. The only thing worse than a miss is a slow miss.
6. If your shooting stance is good, you’re probably not moving fast enough or using cover correctly.
7. Proximity negates skill. Distance is your friend. (Lateral and diagonal movement are preferred)
8. In ten years nobody will remember the details of caliber. stance, or tactics, but they will remember who lived.
9. If you ain't shootin, you should be hollerin loudly, reloadin, or runnin.
10. Accuracy is relative: most combat shooting standards will be more dependant on “Pucker Factor” than the inherent accuracy of a gun.
11. Use a gun that works “every time”. All skill is in vain if an angel has pissed in the flintlock of your musket.
12. Someday, somebody may kill you with your own gun, but,,,,,,, they should have to beat you to death with it after you have emptied it at them.
13. Always cheat, always win. The only unfair fight is the one you lose.
14. Use cover or concealment as much as possible. Absence is also a good thing.
15. Flank your adversary when possible while protecting your flank.
16. Have a roll of toilet paper. You will need it somewhere along the line.
17. Never drop your guard. Guards break easily and are hard to replace.
18. Watch their hands. Hands kill or reach for weapons that can kill. ( In GOD we trust. Every one else keep your hands where I can see them)
19. The faster you finish a gun fight, the less shot you will get.
20. Be polite, be professional, but plan to kill anything that moves.
21. Do not attend a gunfight with a gun whose caliber does not start with a “4"
Thems the rules. and remember,,,,,,,, always gunfight responsibly.
